History

The idea of building a new skyscraper for his corporation was voiced by , chairman of American Fletcher Corporation , in the late 1970s.

The construction of the skyscraper began in 1987 on the site of the demolished Hume-Mansur Building (45 meters, 11 floors, 1911-1980) [2] , Board of Trade Building (33 meters, 8 floors, 1905-1982) [3] and Bankers Trust Building (35 meters, 7 floors, 1901—?) [4] .

The building was built as the headquarters of and, accordingly, had the design name American Fletcher Tower . However, even before the construction was completed, this bank was taken over by , so the name of the skyscraper was changed to Bank One Tower . But this corporation in 2004 was absorbed by the larger, JPMorgan Chase , so from the end of 2005 the building was named - Chase Tower . On May 6, 2016, Salesforce officially announced plans to rent most of the building’s premises and make it their headquarters [5] . Moving here the employees of this corporation began in early 2017, and soon the official name of the skyscraper was changed to the current one - Salesforce Tower .
