Biography
Eduard Adamovich Satel was born in 1885 in Moscow . In 1911 he graduated from the Imperial Moscow Technical School (now - MSTU named after N. E. Bauman ). After the establishment of Soviet power, he worked in the engineering industry of the Supreme Council of the National Economy , then in the Moscow Engineering Trust, at a number of engineering enterprises of the USSR. The master led the construction of the Stalingrad Tractor Plant , set up the first continuous in-line tractor production in the USSR in this enterprise, was one of the founders of the Stalingrad Mechanical Institute. Since 1935, he worked as technical director, director of the Novokramatorsky Engineering Plant [1] .
Since 1937, he has been teaching at the MVTU named after N. E. Bauman. He was the creator of the department of "Special Technology", trained specialists in the field of production of weapons and ammunition. In 1940-1963 he led the department of "M-8" (now - "SM-12"). In parallel with teaching, he worked at the People's Commissariat of Armaments of the USSR as the chief engineer of the 1st Main Directorate of this People’s Commissariat, chairman of the technical committee of the People’s Commissariat, and a member of his collegium. During World War II, Satel did a great job of reconstructing many enterprises and transferring them to mass serial production for the needs of the front [1] .
He was one of the founders of the Soviet scientific school of engineering technology, published many scientific papers in this area [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 28, 1965, for "outstanding services in the development of mechanical engineering, training of engineering and scientific personnel and in connection with the eightieth birthday," Eduard Adamovich Satel was awarded the high title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Sickle medal and the Hammer ” [1] .
He died in 1968, was buried at the Vvedensky cemetery in Moscow [1] .
Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the RSFSR , Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor. He was also awarded two orders of Lenin, orders of Kutuzov 2nd degree, World War 1 degree, three orders of the Red Banner of Labor , the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
