Biography
Pogodin studied the history of art and philosophy at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I. E. Repin. From 1963, he worked as a research associate at the State Russian Museum, then underwent an internship at the State Hermitage Museum as a painting restorer. Since 1971, he worked in the State Central Art Research and Restoration Workshops. Academician I.E. Grabar, in the State Museum-Estate "Kuskovo XVIII". Since 1973. Works in the post of chief custodian of the State Museum-Reserve "Kolomenskoye", now - the State Art Historical-Architectural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve. From 1976 to 1986, he worked at the USSR Academy of Arts, head of the Academy’s creative workshops. Since 1986, the deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine "Artist" of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR. From 1989 - 1991 deputy editor-in-chief of the main editorial board of the collection of monuments of the Nauka publishing house of the USSR Academy of Sciences. Since 1991, Chairman of the Scientific and Methodological Council at the Institute of Cultural and Natural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. In 1995 - 1996. Head of the Federal Service for the Preservation of Cultural Property. In 1996 - 2003 Head of the Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, was engaged in licensing antiquarian activities, expert work for customs and other law enforcement agencies.
