The role of the Doctor was played by Peter Capaldi [1] . Jenna Coleman returned as Dr. Clara Oswald’s companion [2] . Michelle Gomez and Julian Bleach returned to the roles of Missy, the female incarnation of the Master , and the creator of the distant Davros, respectively [3] [4] . The script for the episode was written by Stephen Moffat . The director of the series is Hetty MacDonald, who was previously the director of the Do Not Blink series.

Content

Synopsis

The doctor was trapped in the ominous city of far, the very heart of the evil empire - all alone, without a sound screwdriver, without the TARDIS, and there was nowhere to wait for help. Will he be able to resist the greatest temptation, and will mercy be shown? [five]

Filming

Together with the series " The Wizard 's Apprentice, " the series entered the second film block. Filming took place in February 2015. Part of the filming took place on the island of Tenerife Canary Islands ( Spain ) [6] .

Criticism Reviews

The episode received accolades from critics, noting in particular the interaction between the Doctor and Davros and the acting Michelle Gomez . The site Rotten Tomatoes series has a rating of 94% [7] .

Radio Times gave the episode 5 stars out of 5, considering it a brilliant example of the season, “supported by emotional intelligence ”, and noted the excellent work of the four leading actors in “long conversational scenes, experiencing their endurance and attracting spectator attention” [8] . IGN gave a generous rating of 8.9 points, calling the series exciting and touching, and praised Missy and her interaction with Clara, in addition to the high quality of the dialogue between Doctor and Davros [9] . The Guardian was also delighted with the dynamics of Doctor and Davros: "The interaction of Peter Kapaldi and Julian Bleach crackled with a really perverse chemistry" [10] . The AV Club spoke very positively about the series, giving a rating of 5−, and called the scenes with Doctor and Davros the best between these characters since the release of “ The Origins of the Far Away ” [11] . Michael Hogan from The Daily Telegraph put 4 stars out of 5, noting the acting of Michelle Gomez: “A lot of plot twists and gorgeous Missy make this series incredibly funny” [12] . Metro described the episode as “a very informative work in which the Doctor rescues the situation by showing mercy, instead of just waving a sound screwdriver. Just like in the good old days ” [13] .
