Azylosaurus ( Latin Asylosaurus , from the Greek sacred lizard) is a genus of dinosaurs - sauropodomorphs that lived in England in the late Triassic . The description is based on the remains found by Henry Riley and in 1836. They were identified as a tecodontosaurus and exhibited at Yale between 1888 and 1890. During the 1940 bombing, these remains survived, unlike the remains of the original tecodontosaurus. The azylosaurus described was in 2007 by . With reference to Yale, the species was given the name Asylosaurus yalensis .

The azylosaurus is based on YPM 2195 - a partial skeleton of the body, including the vertebrae, ribs, shoulder girdle, humerus, parts of the forearm and arms; additional bones of the neck, tail, pelvis, front and hind limbs, which may also belong to this genus. The azylosaurus differs from the tecodontosaurs, the basal sauropodomorphs that lived at the same time, in the structure of the humerus (forearm). This may have been a separate ecological niche from other related animals, based on their omnivorous or herbivorous nature.
