Benyakoni ( Belorussian Benyakoni ) is an agricultural town in Belarus , the center of the Benyakonsky Village Council of the Voronovsky District of the Grodno Region . The population of 1319 people (2004).

Geography
The agro-town is located 11 km north of Voronovo , near the northern outskirts of Benyakony there is a border with Lithuania . The highway M11 Lida - Vilnius passes through the agro-town, there is a border crossing and a customs clearance point. Also in the agro-town there is a railway station on the Lida-Vilnius line. In 2004, Beniakoni totaled 1319 inhabitants [1] . Benyakoni are located in the border zone of the Republic of Belarus, to visit it you need to obtain a pass and pay a fee.
History
The first written mention of Benyakony dates back to 1529. In 1556, Beniakoni was mentioned as the village of the owner’s yard “Rudomino”, the possession of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Sigismund Augustus . According to the administrative-territorial reform of the mid-16th century, the settlement became part of the Lida County of the Vilnius Voivodeship [2] .
In 1634, a Catholic parish was formed here [3] , at the same time, at the expense of the then owner Jan Chaplinsky, a wooden church of St. John the Baptist [2] .
As a result of the third division of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1795), Benyakoni became part of the Russian Empire , where they became the volost center of the Lida county . In 1897, the village consisted of 26 courtyards, a church, rural municipality administration, a public school, several shops [2] . In 1900-1906, a new stone Catholic church of St. John the Baptist in an eclectic style [4] . In 1910, the Lastovsky experimental agricultural station was founded near the village (operated until 1959, the remains of the buildings were demolished in 2012). In World War I, the village was under German occupation.
According to the Riga Peace Treaty (1921), Benyakoni became part of the interwar Poland , where he became the center of the commune of Lida County, Novogrudok Voivodeship [2] .
In 1939, Benyakoni entered the BSSR , where they became the center of the village council of the Voronovo region. In 1970, there were 502 yards, in 2012 - 515 [2] .
