Klykov, Mikhail Avvakumovich

Mikhail Avvakumovich Klykov (August 30, 1834, St. Petersburg - December 13, 1910 (1911), St. Petersburg) [1] [2] - Russian researcher of the Russian Far East .

Klykov participated in the compilation of the “Guide for sailing from Kronstadt to Vladivostok”, “The Brief Historical Scrapbook of the Hydrography of the Russian Seas” [3] , discovered the northern channel of the Amur Estuary. MA Klykov owes merit to the development and practical implementation of the navigational fence in the bays, bays and straits of Peter the Great in the form of gate signs, buoys, a milestone system and convenient entrances to the port of Vladivostok [1] .

In October 1844 he entered the 1st Navigational Squadron to study. Since 1848, the young man began to go to sea, in 1850 he participated in overseas voyages. In 1851 he was made into a conductor . In April 1853, he graduated from the educational institution with the rank of Naval Ensign Corps of Naval Navigators and was appointed junior navigational officer.

During the Crimean War, M. A. Klykov was in the besieged city of Rochensalm . Since 1855 he was in the ranks of the defenders of the city of Sveaborg .

In 1857, M. A. Klykov was transferred to the Siberian Military Flotilla . In the Far East of Russia, he was engaged in meteorological observations and hydrographic works on the inventory and measurement of the Amur estuary , the Amur river and the Sea of ​​Japan .

In 1858, he was shooting the mouth of the Amur . From 1858 to 1859 he taught mathematical sciences at Nikolaevsk-on-Amur City School. In 1861 he received the rank of second lieutenant , and in 1866 - the Corps of naval navigators of the lieutenant . Until 1867, he studied the nature of the Tatar Strait , carried out adjustments to the map of Peter the Great Bay . Since 1871, he headed the hydrographic section of the Port Authority of the Eastern Ocean , and in the same year received the title of Naval Naval Corps of the Staff Captain [1] . In 1872 he published the works: "Hydrographic survey of the shores of Peter the Great Bay in the Sea of ​​Japan" and "Plan of the port of Vladivostok . " In 1875, he conducted a new hydrographic expedition to Posyet Bay , following which he supplemented and corrected the map compiled by V. M. Babkin .

Since 1886, he served as senior producer of the cartographic part of the Main Hydrographic Directorate , receiving the rank of Navy Colonel Naval Navigators Corps.

December 13, 1910 M. A. Klykov died in St. Petersburg, was buried in the Smolensk Orthodox cemetery [2] .
