Biography

He was born in Paris in the family of a theater actor and after graduating from high school he graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics. He studied at the film school IDEK in Paris . He started as an assistant director: Henri-Georges Clouseau , Rene Clement , Jean Giono , Costa Gavras and others. The directorial debut " Time to Live " (1969), in connection with which the newspaper " Humanite " noticed about the "birth of social cinema." As the director himself noted: “I created the script based on the novel by the communist Marseillaise newspaper commander André Remacle, and he, in turn, wrote a book based on materials from the questionnaire about overtime work that he spent among construction workers in the rapidly developing industrial region of Bere.” The film was shot in conditions of limited funding, and the main actors Frederic de Pasquale and Marina Vladi even refused the fee [1] . In 1972 he filmed the novel of the writer of the communist Roger Vayan "Bomask" (1954, in the Russian translation of "Pierretta Amable", 1956).

He wrote scripts for his films. It is considered a subtle researcher of the private lives of heroes in the modern realities of France, which do not allow characters to go beyond everyday life. But his work did not touch either the mass audience, or most of the critics.
