Biography. Creativity
A nobleman by birth, was educated, but, according to his medieval "biography", "left science for the sake of singing."
Daniel’s lyrics are vague, verses are heavy. The medieval author of his biography remarks that he "chose the genus of composition in exquisite rhymes, so that his songs are not easy to understand or remember." But Dante highly appreciated his chivalry and court songs and called Daniel "the first singer of love." In the XXVI song “Purgatory” of “The Divine Comedy” on behalf of the poet Guido Guinicelli, he calls Daniel the best poet:
Brother, he said, here is one (and on the other
- He pointed a finger among the lights)
- Better was the kovach of the native word.
- In verses of love and in tales he is stronger
- All the others ...
- Translation by Mikhail Lozinsky
Daniel's creativity is the heyday of dark style . Daniel was the first of the troubadours to write his works in the form of sextine . His sextine Lo ferm voler qu'el cor m'intra ("Blind passion that enters the heart ..." - the name is translated by A. Nyman ) served as a role model for such poets as Dante and Petrarch . To this sextin and also to the song Chanson do`ill mot son plan e prim notes are preserved.
