Illugi

Illugi is the son of Svidi, the hero of the Scandinavian sagas .

Slandered before the Danish king Hringer, the son of Sköld, falls into the North Sea into the cave of the enchanted Signy, turned by spells into the evil creature of Gridur. Here he is in mortal danger, but he is saved thanks to his fearlessness and not only frees Signy from the spell, but also marries her daughter, the beautiful Hildur.

On the way back to Denmark, Illugi, thanks to Gridur, is freed from slander; reconciles with the king and gives Signy married to his childhood friend, Sigurdra, son of Hringra. Illuga-saga Gridharfostra, known in two manuscripts: parchment - the end of the 15th century and paper, Jon Erlandson, tells about the fate of Illuga. The saga was published by Goodmund Olofson, with the Swedish translation: “Illuge Grydar Fostres Historia etc.” ( Uppsala , 1695 ) and Raphne : “Fornaldar Sögur Nordrlanda” ( Copenhagen , 1830 ).
