The 9th Games of Southeast Asia were held from November 19 to 26, 1977 in Kuala Lumpur ( Malaysia ). Brunei, Indonesia, and the Philippines were finally admitted to the game federation called SEAP in February this year. Although the word 'peninsula' was deleted from the new Federation to reflect expansion, its logo (which is represented by six founding members) and the sequence of numbering of games was maintained to ensure continuity, as well as respect for the goals, aspirations and contributions of the founders.
