Sergey Nickolsky ( February 4, 1950 , Kiev , Ukrainian SSR , USSR ) - Ukrainian Soviet rower-kayaker , played for the USSR national team throughout the 1970s. Biography
Sergey Nikolsky was born on February 4, 1950 in Kiev . He began to actively engage in rowing in early childhood, was trained in the Kiev sports society " Petrel ".
The first serious success achieved in 1972, when he became the champion of the USSR in the standings of single kayaks at a distance of 500 meters. A year later, he got into the main team of the Soviet national team and visited the World Championships in Tampere, Finland, from where he brought the gold medal award won in the 4 × 500 m relay. .
After a break in 1977, Nikolsky returned to the basis of the Soviet rowing team, becoming the best in fours at a thousand and ten thousand meters. In the same disciplines he represented the country at the world championship in Bulgarian Sofia, receiving silver and gold, respectively. The following season, he again won the national championship among four-seater crews on ten kilometers and repeated this achievement at the World Championships in Yugoslav Belgrade. A year later, at similar competitions in German Duisburg, he added to the track record one more gold award for four kilometers of four kilometers, thus becoming a four-time world champion.
For outstanding sporting achievements awarded the honorary title " Honored Master of Sports of the USSR ."
