Description

The total length of representatives of this genus ranges from 20 to 35 cm. The head is small, wide. Chunky body. The color is mostly brown. The belly is yellowish or red. They have the ability to change skin color, darken, even become black. Along the body stretched narrow light stripes, between which are located the dark points.

Lifestyle

Inhabit wet places, avoid open spaces. Active at night. They feed on invertebrates , snails , small amphibians .

Reproduction

These are ovoviviparous snakes.

Spread

They live in North and Central America .
