History
The name is associated with the adjective “rotten” and is given, most likely, by the quality of the water. Perhaps it indicated a wetland or the presence of rotten trees in the water [2] .
There were no settlements on Gnilush. Since the 1980s, in connection with the development of the Krylatskoye district, one of the source streams of Gnilushi, which previously flowed from the Kuntsevskaya poultry farm, was removed to the collector. In the first half of the 20th century, the lower Gnilushi was used for geological excursions, however, due to the development of the adjacent territory and pollution, the river lost sightseeing significance [3] .
Current Description
The length of the river is 2-3 km, the catchment area is 4 km² [3] . Gnilusha begins with three source streams in the 34th quarter of Serebryanoborsky forestry , in the area of house 13 along Autumn Street . The right source, removed to the collector, is the most powerful, as it is fueled by city sewers. The middle one flows along the forest border with city buildings from Rublevskaya Street along Autumn Street, merges with the right one at its exit to the surface near house 13. The left source crosses the forest block to the northeast, flowing between the Krylatsky and the cottage village “Ekaterinovka”. It merges with two other sources slightly below House 13. The headwaters of the source streams are located on top of the main hill of the Tatar Upland with glacial deposits. Then the river flows along the gentle slope of this hill with broad-leaved plantations, pine and birch forests; along the banks - alder forests, willows. Downstream there is a heavily shallowed pond, beyond which the river crosses Krylatskaya Street along the collector. Below the river crosses the third floodplain terrace of the Moscow River. Another section of the river was removed into the collector during the construction of the Northwest tunnels . The river flows into the Moscow River east of the border of the territory of the Rublyovo recreation complex of Russian Railways . Near the mouth of Gnilusha there were outcrops of Jurassic clays [3] [4] .
