The origin of this surname, as can be seen from the third part of the “ General Tombstone of the noble families of the Russian Empire, ” it is known that the Arakcheev origin of the ancient and noble and for the service of the Russian throne “were granted from the sovereigns in 1667 and other years with estates and certain letters”. According to one version, they come from Arakchey Yevstafyev, a baptized Tatar who switched to Russian service in the middle of the 15th century and became the deacon of Vasily II. The surname is formed from the Kazan-Tatar nickname Arakychy, which means "moonshiner, drunk" / "Orakchi" - (From "orak" - sickle / weapon., Affix "chi" - an indicator of the profession)
In the Genealogy Book (published by Russian Antiquity), the Arakcheev’s genealogy begins with the words: “With the tsar of Tsars John and Peter Alekseevich on March 6, 1695 , Novgorodian Ivan Stepanovich Arakcheev “ for the service of ancestors and his father and for his own service during the war with Poland during the reign of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich "bestowed on the patrimony of the wastelands in the Bezhetsky Pyatina , in the graveyards of Nikolsky and Petrovsky-Tikhvinsky, in the then county of Novgorod."
- The descendants of Ivan Stepanovich served in the military service in the 18th century , and one of them, Vasily Stepanovich , participated in the Turkish campaign led by Count Minikh , was wounded near Ochakov and was dismissed from service with the award of the rank of lieutenant general .
- The latter’s nephew, Andrei Andreyevich , resigned as lieutenant , settled in Bezhetsk district , where he inherited a village with 20 souls of peasants, and died in 1797 . From the marriage with Elizabeth Andreevna Vetlitsky ( 1750 - July 17, 1820 ) Andrei Andreyevich had three sons:
- Alexey Andreevich , first the Baron ( 1797 ), and then the Count ( 1799 ),
- Peter Andreevich - the adjutant wing of Emperor Alexander I and
- Andrei Andreyevich - major general and commandant in Kiev .
- The latter’s nephew, Andrei Andreyevich , resigned as lieutenant , settled in Bezhetsk district , where he inherited a village with 20 souls of peasants, and died in 1797 . From the marriage with Elizabeth Andreevna Vetlitsky ( 1750 - July 17, 1820 ) Andrei Andreyevich had three sons:

Coat of arms of the noble family of the Arakcheevs: in a shield with a blue field, a golden arrow is depicted flying to the right side from a bow drawn (Polish coat of arms Luk ). The shield is crowned with an ordinary noble helmet with a noble crown on it and three ostrich feathers. The mark on the shield is blue, lined with gold.

The shield is crowned with a silver helmet with a baronial crown on it and three ostrich feathers. The mark on the shield is blue, lined with gold (decree of April 05, 1797).

Coat of arms of the sort of Count Arakcheev: the shield is horizontally divided into two parts, of which in the upper gold field a half-crowned black, two-headed eagle is depicted, on the chest of which in the blue shield is the name of Emperor Paul the First. In the lower part in the right, blue field-shaped golden arrow flying to the right side of a stretched golden bow. In the left, red field, there is a black gun on a gold carriage and in front of it are laid in the form of a pyramid of the nucleus. The shield is covered with the count's crown with three silver helmets on it, of which the middle one is crowned with the count's crown and three ostrich feathers, and the two extreme ones are crowned on the right side of the baronial and on the left side of the noble crown. Bast on the shield of blue and red, lined with gold. Shield holders: on the right side is a warrior in armor, and on the left is a unicorn. At the bottom of the shield is the motto : “WITHOUT FLATTERS TRADED” (decree of May 05, 1799) [1] .
