Biography
Born October 17, 1903 in Moscow . In 1925 he graduated from the Medical Faculty of the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute . He worked as an assistant at the department of surgery.
Since 1939 in the Red Army . He worked as a surgeon. Participated in the Soviet-Finnish war. During the Great Patriotic War, he led evacuation hospitals, and also worked as a surgeon. Performed about five thousand operations.
After the war, he returned to the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute. In 1945 he defended his doctoral dissertation. In 1949 he worked in the People's Republic of China. After the People's Republic of China he became the head of the department of hospital surgery at the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute, the chief surgeon of the 4th Main Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Health.
He has published more than 300 scientific papers mainly on the surgical treatment of acquired heart diseases, peptic ulcer disease and its complications, and mechanisms of regulation of gastric secretion. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated February 17, 1969, Mayat Valentin Sergeevich was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Sickle and Hammer gold medal.
Retired since 1985. He consulted patients in medical institutions in Moscow . He lived in Moscow . He died on October 23, 2004. He was buried at the Donskoy Cemetery in Moscow .
