Crater Mac Oliff ( lat. McAuliffe ) is a small impact crater in the northeast part of the bowl of the huge Apollo crater on the far side of the Moon . The name was given in honor of the American teacher, a crew member of the Challenger spacecraft who was killed in the crash, Sharon Christa MacAlyph (1948-1986) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1988.

Crater Description
The nearest neighbors of McLiff Crater are Smith Crater in the northwest; Scobi crater in the north; Järvis crater in the southeast and Resnik crater in the southwest [1] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 19.1 km [2] , depth 1.7 km [3] .
Crater Mac Oliff has a circular shape and is moderately destroyed. The shaft is slightly smoothed but retains a clearly defined edge, the inner slope is smooth. The bottom of the bowl is even, dotted with many small craters, it has no noticeable structures.
Before obtaining its own name in 1988, the crater had the designation Borman Y (in the system of designations of the so-called satellite craters located in the vicinity of the crater, which has its own name).
