Born in Wittenberg. Educated at the University of Berlin, Friedrich Wilhelm . He had an internship with famous German otologists: with Hermann Schwartz , in Halle ( Saxony-Anhalt ), with German Friedrich Wendt , in Leipzig . Ferdinand Trautmann participated in the German and Franco-Prussian wars as a military doctor. In 1876 he became a professor of otology at the University of Berlin. In 1894 he received the management of the head and neck surgery department of the Charite University Hospital. [one]

- The Trautmann Triangle is the area of the base of the skull located on the back surface of the stony part of the temporal bone. Limited: posterior by the sigmoid sinus, anterior by the posterior semicircular canal, from above by the upper edge of the stony part of the temporal bone (or by the superior stony sinus) [2] . It serves as a guideline for some operations on the labyrinth, endolymphatic sac, and accesses to the posterior cranial fossa.
