Antithrombotic agent - a drug that reduces the formation of blood clots [1] [2] . Antithrombotic drugs can be used therapeutically to prevent ( primary , secondary ) or treat dangerous blood clots. In the USA, the American College of Pulmonologists publishes clinical recommendations for doctors on the use of these drugs for the treatment and prevention of various diseases.

Processes
Different antithrombotic drugs affect different blood coagulation processes:
- limit platelet migration or aggregation.
- Anticoagulants limit the ability of blood to clot.
- act by dissolving blood clots after they form.
