Earth cuckoos ( lat. Neomorphus ) - a typical genus of land cuckoos from the subfamily Running cuckoos ( Neomorphinae ) of the family Cuculidae . Despite their relatively large size, they are very secretive and hardly noticeable. Their range is limited to moist primary neotropical forests, and despite their external similarities, they are not closely related to Asian terrestrial cuckoos of the genus Carpococcyx .
