The Ushakovo overpass (also the Ushakovskaya interchange ) is the main element of the road interchange at the intersection of Ushakovskaya embankment / Primorsky Prospekt and Akademika Krylova / Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg , connects Vyborg and Primorsky districts.
Construction
The intersection of Ushakovskaya embankment and Academician Krylov Street began to become a problem place back in the late 1980s , it was then that they began to talk about the need to build a traffic intersection in this place.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the design of the interchange began, but the difficult economic situation made it impossible to design and build the overpass on time, as a result of which this intersection became one of the most problematic in St. Petersburg.
By 1997, the overpass project could be agreed upon, after which the general contractor, Mostootryad No. 19, entered the construction site, and in 1998, the active construction of the interchange began. In addition to the construction of the overpass itself, the project provided for the expansion of part of the embankment, the arrangement of exits and arrivals for the overpass, the construction of two underground passages .
In the evening of November 30, 1999, a severe flood occurred in St. Petersburg. The water of the Neva , which overflowed the coast, through the open technological holes fell into the subway , which caused a malfunction in its work. However, by the middle of the day , December 1, the subway was restored.
In May 2000, Ushakovskaya overpass was put into operation ahead of schedule.
The official name of the overpass - Ushakovsky - was assigned on July 30, 2019 [1] , although unofficially this name, along with the name Ushakovsky interchange was used almost from the moment the building was opened [2] .
