The son of Silla , the grandson of Thrasymedas , the great-grandson of Nestor [1] , from the Neleid dynasty, who ruled Pylos and Messenia .
According to legend, he left the clan possessions of the Neleids in Messenia, fleeing the Doric conquest , and together with other Ionians , headed by King Melantus , he moved to Attica . Alkmeonides built their origin to it [2] .
According to later lexicographers (the dictionary of the Courts with reference to Hesychius ), Alkmeon was a contemporary of Theseus . This statement either means that in ancient times this character was identical to Alkmeon , the son of Amphiara , or arose as a result of confusion [3] .
