McMath Crater ( lat. McMath ) is a large ancient impact crater in the northern hemisphere of the far side of the moon . The name is given in honor of the American engineer and amateur astronomer Francis McMath (1867-1938) and the American astronomer Robert McMath (1891-1962); approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. The formation of the crater belongs to the nectar period [1] .

Crater Description
The closest neighbors of the Mac Mas crater are the Morse Crater in the northwest; Marzi crater in the north-north-west; Jackson Crater in the north-northeast; Bredikhin crater in the east; Remon crater in the east-northeast; Lebedinsky and Zhukovsky craters in the south and Hayford crater in the west-south-west [2] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 88.6 km [3] , depth 2.8 km [1] .
Mac-Mas Crater has a polygonal shape and is significantly destroyed over a long time of its existence. The shaft is flattened and marked by noticeable small craters in the northern, northeastern and southern parts. The inner slope is wide, with traces of a terrace-like structure. The bottom of the bowl is flat, dotted with many small craters. The crater is covered by light rays from Jackson Crater.
