In the 70s of the XVI century, Shchitnikovo belonged to the serving man Fyodor Yevseyev Pozdeyev, who was also the owner of the lands in Ivanovo . At that time the village was a wasteland until the middle of the 17th century. [one]

In the 1620s , this wasteland was located in the birthplace of Mikita Funikov, a descendant of the Belozero princes. [one]

By the mid- 1660s , the first Romanovs settled the wasteland with peasants brought from different localities. The new village became part of the Izmailovo parish of the Order of secret affairs. In 1702 a wooden church was built in the name of the great martyr Dmitry Solunsky , in the parish which consisted of 22 courtyards. [one]
