Grossman wrote for The New York Times , Wired , Salon.com , Lingua Franca , Entertainment Weekly , Time Out New York , The Wall Street Journal and The Village Voice . Member of the Board of Directors of the National Circle of Book Critics. He also writes about technology and the gaming industry.

He interviewed Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Salman Rushdie, Neil Gaiman, J.K. Rowling and Johnny Cash.

Writing

The first Warp novel was published in 1997. Grossman says that this is a story about the “lyrical misadventures of a 20-year-old hero who confuses reality with Star Trek ” ^[4] . Warp received many negative reviews. In his essay Terrors of the Amazon, Grossman admitted that he wrote good reviews of his book under fictitious names on Amazon ^[5] .

The next novel, Codex, was released in 2004 and became an international bestseller.

The most famous novel of the writer, The Magicians , written in 2009, received the Alex Award in 2010, which is awarded to the top 10 books in the young adult genre.

In 2011, Grossman received the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Science Fiction Writer.

The writer sold the rights to the film adaptation of the book, but stated that he did not believe that his book could be transferred to the screen. In May 2015, SyFy began production of the first season of the television series of the same name ^[6] . The pilot series was shown on December 16, 2015, and the 13th series - on April 11, 2016. The premiere of the second season took place on January 25, 2017. On April 12, 2017, the series was extended for the third season, the premiere took place on January 10, 2018, and on February 28, 2018 it was also extended for the fourth season of 13 episodes, which premiered on January 23, 2019. In January 2019, SyFy announced that the series was extended for the fifth season ^[7] .

Lev Grossman was born in the family of the poet Allen Grossman and writer Judith Grossman . His twin brother, Austin Grossman , works as a game designer and writes books, and their sister, Bathsheba Grossman, is - a sculptor.
