Ideology

Despite the fact that members of the “Mujahideen Army” are supporters of radical Islamism , gradually a nationalistic bias gradually began to appear in the ideology of the group. Presumably, the militants are pursuing the same goals as their allies from the organization “ Islamic Army in Iraq ” [2] . Members of the group called for terrorist attacks in Denmark and Norway [3] , and also threatened to march on the Vatican [4] [5] .

Activities

The group is responsible for a series of attacks committed against representatives of the forces of the international coalition . Militants usually post allegations of involvement in terrorist attacks on their website on the Internet. In particular, the group took responsibility for two downed helicopters in 2006 and 2007 [6] [7] . Little is known about the leadership of the group. Malcolm Nancy claims that both former Ba'athists and radical Islamists are in the ranks of the organization. However, most field commanders previously served in the Saddam army (although they did not share the ideas of Ba'athism), and after the invasion of American troops, they joined the Islamists.
