Biography
Born on January 13, 1716 to a peasant family in the puddle of the village of Zhidov. He graduated from high school in Budishina . Since 1737 he studied theology in Leipzig. As a student, he took part in the activities of the Serbluzhitsky cultural and educational society “ Serbian Preaching Society ”. After training, he returned to Budishin. He worked for some time as a home teacher and helped local Lutheran pastor Jan Christophe Lang. In 1743 he was appointed rector in one of the Lutheran parishes in Budyshyn. In 1747, he was transferred by the rector to the village of Nemske-Enkecy. In 1759, he was appointed rector in the village of Malešeci, where he served until his death in 1785.
As a Lutheran clergyman, he collected historical information about the temples in Luzitsa. Based on his research, he wrote a local history book in German, Kurzer Entwurf einer Oberlausitz-wendischen Kirchenhistorie , which he published in Budyshyn in 1767.
He was the father of the Serboluzhitsky writer Samuel Boguver Ponykh (born 1748) and the bibliophile God-blessed Bedrich Ponykh (born 1761).
