Crater MacClure ( Latin McClure ) is a large impact crater in the area of the southwestern coast of the Sea of Plenty on the visible side of the Moon . The name was given in honor of the British polar explorer Robert McClure (1807–1873) and was approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1935.

Crater Description
The nearest neighbors of the crater are Columbus Crater in the west; Bello Crater in the northwest; the crazier crater in the north; Wendelin crater in the east; the crater Biot in the south and the crater Cook in the southwest. To the west of the crater of McClure are the mountains of the Pyrenees and further behind them the Sea of Nectar [1] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 24.0 km [2] , depth 1180 m [3] .
Crater MacClure has a close to circular shape with a slight deviation from it in the northeast part, where the crater shaft is straightened. Shaft with a clearly defined edge and a narrow smooth inner slope. The height of the shaft above the surrounding terrain reaches 820 m [4] , the volume of the crater is approximately 330 km ³ [4] . The bottom of the bowl is crossed; in the northern and western parts of the bowl there are several small ridges. Some sources indicate the presence of a central hill with a height of 700 m [5] .
