Jacob Ilive or Ilive ( English Jacob Ilive , 1705 - 1763 ) - English philosopher , rationalist . He was a religious radical who developed neo-Gnostic views based on deism [1]

Denied the divine inspiration of Holy Scripture and the eternity of torment in hell . His writings contain harsh criticism of the Old Testament patriarchs: “Speech delivered in the Joyners Hall” ( 1733 ); “A Dialogue Between a Doctor of the Church of England and Mr. Jacob Ayleeve” ( 1734 ) and “Modest Remarks on the Conversations of the Bishop of London” [2] .
