Joseph Joyce ( born Joseph Joyce , born September 19, 1985 , London , England , UK ) is an undefeated English boxer - a professional who performs in the heavy weight category . Silver medalist of the Olympic Games (2016), champion of the European Games (2015) and the Commonwealth Games (2014), bronze medalist of the World Championship (2015) and European Championship (2013) in amateurs. Among the professionals, the champion is WBA Gold (2019 -present ) and the champion of the British Commonwealth (2018 -present ) in heavyweight.

Biography

Born in 1985 in London .

Amateur career

In 2011, he met future Olympic champion Anthony Joshua . Joshua won by knockout in round 1.

In 2013, he won the bronze medal of the European Championship. In the semifinals, Joyce was knocked out in the first round of the fight by Russian boxer Sergey Kuzmin .

In 2014, he won the Commonwealth Games.

In 2015, he became the champion of the European Games in Baku by defeating Russian Hasan Gimbatov [1] in the final, and also won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Doha .

In 2016, he won the silver medal at the Rio de Janeiro Summer Heavyweight Championship [2] , losing to the Frenchman Tony Yoka in the final decision of the majority of the judges.

Semi-Professional League

In 2013, he participated in the World Series Boxing in the British Lion Hearts team, where on March 1, 2013 he lost to Alexander Usik by unanimous decision in a 5-round fight.

Professional career

He began his professional career as a boxer on October 20, 2017 by beating by technical knockout in the 8th round of an experienced compatriot, Jan Levison, in (12-3-1) [3] .

On May 5, 2018, he won by knockout in the 2nd round of the experienced Jamaican boxer Lenroy Thomas (22-4-1) won the British Commonwealth Heavyweight Championship [4] .
