Colomar ( French Colomars ) is a commune in the south-east of France in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region , the Alpes-Maritimes department , Nice district , the canton of Turret-Levans [1] . Until March 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of Levens (Nice County).

The area of the commune is 6.72 km², the population is 3161 people [2] [3] (2006) with a pronounced upward trend: 3318 people [4] (2012), the population density is 493.8 people / km².
Geographical position
The municipality of Colomar is administratively part of the canton of Levens in Nice . It is geographically located on the mountain slopes of the coastal Alps, at altitudes up to 430 meters above sea level. From the west, the border of the community is the Var River. The M6202 highway and the railway line ( Chemins de Fer de Provence ) via Nice-Digne-les-Bains link pass through its territory.
Population
Starting from the second half of the 20th century, the population of the Kolomar commune is constantly increasing. So, in 1962, 679 people lived here, in 1975 - 1241 people, in 1990 - 2307 people, in 2006 - already 3161 people. The population of the commune in 2011 was 3330 people [5] , and in 2012 - 3318 people [4] .

Economics
In 2010, out of 2128 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years old), 1546 were economically active , 582 inactive (activity indicator 72.7%, in 1999 - 68.5%). Of the 1,546 active able-bodied residents, 1,450 people worked (752 men and 698 women), 96 were unemployed (56 men and 40 women). Among 582 able-bodied inactive citizens, 220 were pupils or students , 200 were pensioners , and another 162 were inactive for other reasons [7] [8] .
Throughout 2010, the commune had 1,219 taxable households, in which 3,293.5 people lived. The median income was 24 thousand 548 euros per taxpayer [9] .
