Story
The main source for Seneca here was Sophocles ' Trahinyanki , but parallels with Spinfar 's unexploited tragedy “Heracles Burned ” are possible.
Dejanira, jealous of her husband Hercules to Iola, sends him a tunic soaked in the poisoned blood of the centaur Ness, thinking that this is a love spell. Having learned what torment her husband is experiencing, wearing a tunic, Dejanira commits suicide. Hercules kills Lichas, who brought him a disastrous gift, and burns himself on the top of Mount Eta on a funeral pyre arranged by Philocthetus. At the end of the tragedy, he appears to his mother Alkmene and tells that he has become a god.
