The species is common in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam. It inhabits evergreen tropical and subtropical forests, as well as semi-deciduous forests and forests with a predominance of pine, oak and bamboo.
Body length 16-17 cm, weight 25-35 grams. The head is ash gray with a wide black eyebrow above the eyes. Chest and belly are white. The wings are blue and black. The tail is bluish black. Legs and periocular ring are yellow [2] .
Birds live alone or in pairs. They feed on insects and other invertebrates, their larvae, as well as berries and ripe fruits.
Reproduction occurs during the rainy season from March to July. Both birds build a nest. It has a pear-shaped shape and hangs on the tip of a branch, usually at a height of more than two meters above the ground. In the clutch there are 2-5 eggs of white color with rare reddish spots. Chicks hatch after 15-18 days.
