Biography

He was born in 1981 in Rotterdam in a family of judokas of Surinamese origin (his father Ricardo Elmont represented Suriname at the Montreal Olympics , and took 9th place). In 2004, he participated in the Athens Olympics , but failed. In 2005, he won the world championship. In 2006 he became the bronze medalist of the European Championship. In 2007, he won bronze medals at the World Championships and European Championships. In 2008, he became the silver medalist of the European Championship, and took 5th place at the Beijing Olympic Games . In 2010, he again became the bronze medalist of the European Championship. In 2012, he took part in the Olympic Games in London , but became only 17th. In 2015, he won the bronze medal of the European Games.
