Gavriil Ivanovich Volzhinsky ( March 25, 1855 - not earlier than 1917) - artillery retired major general, participant in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878 , writer.

Biography
Orthodox religion. He was educated at the Petrovsky Poltava Military Gymnasium , after which on August 9 , 1872 he entered the service of the 38th Artillery Brigade [1] . Later he graduated from the 1st Pavlovsk Military School and Officer Artillery School. August 7 , 1874 received the first officer rank of ensign. From October 15 , 1875 - lieutenant, and from October 9 , 1876 - lieutenant [2] .
During the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878, Volzhinsky commanded a platoon in the 2nd battery of the 38th artillery brigade at the Caucasian theater of operations . On June 28, 1877, as part of the Erivan detachment, he participated in the liberation of the Russian garrison besieged in the citadel of Bayazet , where the Volzhinsky artillery platoon, being on the front line, significantly contributed to the occupation of the city by Russian units [3] . In the same war he was shell-shocked. It is assigned to the 2nd class of wounded [2] .
At the end of the war on December 18 , 1878, Volzhinsky was awarded the rank of staff captain. Since December 21, 1889 - captain. As of 1890, he served in the 20th flying artillery park [1] . September 27, 1898 received the rank of lieutenant colonel and assumed the post of commander of the personnel reserve battery of the 48th artillery brigade. On February 14 , 1908 he was promoted to colonel, and on January 18 of the following year he was appointed commander of the 1st Division of the 4th Artillery Brigade [2] .
March 25, 1913 Volzhinsky was promoted to major general with dismissal from service at the age qualification (on the day of the 58th anniversary), with a uniform and pension [4] . He lived in St. Petersburg (hereinafter - Petrograd, on Borovaya St. ). As of 1917 - Assistant Manager of the Petrograd Military Hotel [5] .
