Ixodes angustus

Ixodes angustus (lat.) - a species of blood-sucking ticks of the genus Ixodes from the family Ixodidae . Endemic of the Holarctic . On the Pacific coast of America, this is one of the most common types of ticks. They parasitize on small mammals (most often they are rodents , voles, mice, rats, chipmunks). Activity season (for adults in Russia): June-August (larvae and nymphs occur until October). The species was first described in 1899 by the French zoologist Louis Georges Neumann (Louis Georges Neumann, 1846-1930) [1] [2] [3] [4] .

Distribution

Northern Hemisphere: Canada , USA , Mexico , Japan , Russia ( Sakhalin , Kamchatka , Kuril Islands , Khabarovsk Territory , Primorsky Territory ) [1] . They are found in various biotopes: mixed forests, taiga, tundra, rocks, meadows [5] .
