Biography
Born June 10, 1839 in an Orthodox family of nobles of the Vladimir province. Father - Staff Captain Pavel Pavlovich, mother - Elizaveta Vasilievna (nee Kalachova).
In 1857 he graduated from the Page Corps (1857, 1st category, from the page-pages he was enlisted as ensign in the Life Guards 1st Rifle Battalion). Then he had the ranks: court adviser (1871), chamber junker (1873), chamberlain (1874), real state adviser (1880).
After serving in the Life Guards 1st Rifle Battalion in 1858, he retired and in 1859 worked in the Ministry of the Interior. Then he was an official for special assignments under the Moscow Governor General (1859), worked in the Main Directorate of State Horse Breeding (1870–1874), and was chairman of the Moscow Board of Trustees of the Imperial Humanitarian Society (after 1874). In 1863, together with A. N. Strekalova, he founded the Society for the Promotion of Diligence in Moscow; also founded the institution of St. Mary Magdalene in Moscow.
In 1868, S.P. Yakovlev founded a printing house in Moscow. The Partnership “The Seal of S. P. Yakovlev” was highly approved in 1872. Then he created its branches in St. Petersburg , Yekaterinoslav , Samara , Kiev , Kharkov and Saratov . [one]
He wrote essays in magazines and newspapers, is the author of the book "Empress Alexandra Feodorovna."
He died in 1906 . He was married, the father of journalist Anatoly Sergeyevich Yakovlev , who was for some time a student of A.P. Chekhov . [2]
