On the Rotten Tomatoes aggregator site, “Lucifer” holds 43% of “freshness” with an average rating of 4.8 / 10, which is based on 28 reviews from critics [19] . On Metacritic , the series has 49 points out of a hundred, which is based on 22 “mixed and medium” reviews [20] . In Russia, the World of Fantasy magazine rated the first season of Lucifer as “good” [21] , on the KG Portal website they criticized the first season for its poor script and poor dynamics [22]
The fully filmed pilot episode was shown in July 2015 at the international annual Comic Horse in San Diego and was received positively. Dan Wikline from Bleeding Cool praised the pilot episode, noting that “the show is pleasantly teeming with excellent dialogues and impeccable playing of the main cast ... This version of Lucifer simply does not take anything seriously, which is shown in the show. Watching all this turned out to be a more pleasant surprise than expected from Comic-Con ” [23] .
Petition
On May 28, 2015, the website of the American Family Association (ACA) One Million Moms published a petition demanding that the production of Lucifer be stopped as a television series showing the Devil on the good side, which, in their opinion, “offends the Christian faith and is a mockery of the holy Bible teaching” [24] .
By June 1, 2015, the petition had collected a total of 11,000 signatures. In response to this, the creator of the character of Lucifer, Neil Gaiman, noted the following: “Yeah. It was as if only yesterday (in fact, it was in 1991) they came out with demands to ban my Sandman comic, as it contains LGBT characters. It was then about Wanda who bothered them the most: she was a transgender and the very fact of her appearance in the comic ... They told us that they were boycotting Sandman and that would be until we wrote back to them and promised to remove the character from comics. I wonder if they noticed that it didn’t work, neither last time, nor this time ... ” [25]
