Vertical sync

Vertical synchronization ( Eng. V-Sync ) - synchronization of the frame frequency in a computer game with the vertical frequency of the monitor . In this case, the maximum FPS with vertical synchronization is equal to the refresh rate of the monitor. If FPS is lower than the monitor refresh rate, triple buffering should be enabled to avoid even greater performance loss.

Application

  • possible to get rid of "jerks" when the FPS jumps sharply
  • removes jerking images
  • in games, it allows the video card to work not at full power, thereby significantly reducing the temperature of the video card and noise, especially if the installed cooling system on the video card is weak and noisy
  • in undemanding applications reduces the maximum power consumption of the video card

Enabling V-Sync

Vertical synchronization can be enabled both directly in the settings of most games, and in the settings of the video card driver, and you can set V-Sync for any specific application or for everyone.
