Champion Fight with Carlos Gonzalez
On May 15, 1999, he entered the battle against the World Welterweight Champion according to WBO Mexican Carlos Gonzalez . He won by knockout in the first round and won the title.

Loss of title

On January 4, 2003, he met the WBO World Welterweight Champion American Demarkus Corley . The judges unanimously gave the victory to the champion: 116/112 and 117/111 (twice).

Championship fight with Miguel Cotto
On December 11, 2004, he met with the WBO World Welterweight Champion Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto , who had a record of 21-0 (17 KO). Puerto Rican won by TKO in the 6th round.

Championship fight with Juan Urango
On August 28, 2009, he met with IBF World Champion Colombian Juan Urango . Lost by TKO in the 11th round.
Welterweight title
June 9, 2012 went to battle against the American Mike Jones. At stake was the vacant IBF welterweight world title. Bailey knocked out his opponent in the 11th round and became the world champion in the second weight category.
