Fedor Vasilievich Chukhrov ( 1908 - 1988 ) - Soviet mineralogist and geochemist, doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences (1946), academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1970) [1] . Editor-in-chief of the multi-volume reference book Minerals, published since 1960.

Biography
Born July 2 ( 15 ), 1908 in the city of Yegoryevsk , Ryazan province in the family of a worker in a textile factory.
After graduating from high school, in 1926-1928 - a worker in a textile factory.
In 1928 he entered the soil and geology department of the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Moscow University , and in 1930 he moved to the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute (MGR), organized on the basis of this department and the Moscow Mining Academy , which he graduated in 1932).
In 1932-1933 he worked at the State Scientific Research and Design Institute of the rare-metal industry, in 1933-1936 he taught at the Department of Geology and Mineralogy of the Moscow Agricultural Academy and at the same time studied with graduate students at the Moscow State Engineering Institute, and also taught mineralogy at the All-Union Correspondence Institute of Technical education, at Moscow University and other universities in Moscow.
From 1936 to 1955 he worked at the Institute of Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Crystallography. MV Lomonosov Academy of Sciences (since 1937 - as part of the Institute of Geological Sciences ), since 1950 - Deputy Director.
Since 1955 - Director of IGEM AN USSR.
He is the author of more than 300 scientific works (including co-authorship). [2] .
In 1970, Academician F.V. Chukhrov so designated the most significant results of his scientific work: [3]
- work on colloids of the earth's crust;
- study of the zone of hypergenesis;
- study of the mineralogy of the Kerch iron ores;
- study of the mineralogy of manganese ore deposits of the Dzhezkazgan-Ulutavsky region in Kazakhstan;
- study of minerals of primary ores of gold, copper, lead and zinc deposits;
- discovery and characterization of the rhodusite deposit Kyzyl-Borbas;
- study of the mineralogy of rare-metal deposits;
- research on clay minerals;
- minerals of the iron oxide group;
- sulfur isotopy;
- issues of oceanic ore genesis;
- work on general issues of mineralogy (problems of typomorphism, problems of homogeneity of minerals, general tasks of mineralogy);
- Reference "Minerals".
He lived in Moscow on Novy highway, 23-a, Chkalov street, 21/2, and Academician Petrovsky street , 3.
Died April 25, 1988 in Moscow. He was buried at Kuntsevsky cemetery [4] .

In honor of F.V. Chukhrov, the mineral Chukhrovit [9] from the halide class, discovered in 1960, is named. In the archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences there are documents related to F.V. Chukhrov. [10]
In 2014, the Ore-Petrographic Museum of the Institute of Geology of Ore Deposits, Petrography, Mineralogy, and Geochemistry displayed the World of Minerals exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of Academician F.V. Chukhrov. It presented samples from the collection of F.V. Chukhrov, photographs, and rare metals, including chukhrovit. [eleven]
