Braid ( taj. Tasm : belt ) - a narrow woven or braided strip or cord , usually having only one system of obliquely interwoven threads. It is used for decoration and repair of clothes, it is often sewn into finished products to strengthen the seams, in addition, it has the most diverse application in household goods [1] .
From a tape, a braid differs mainly in that the first serves primarily as a decoration, while the braid is assigned to tie and pull together parts of clothing and the like, as a result of which strength is one of the necessary qualities for it. Therefore, threads are made from more durable materials: linen , cotton , less often wool and silk , connected by simple interlacing: linen, twill, less often satin.
Wicker braid is also found. In essence, woven braid and ribbon are one and the same product of weaving .
