The Moscow Red Cross Society is the Moscow branch of the Red Cross .
History
In 1867, the Society for the Care of Wounded and Sick Soldiers was formed in Russia . Then formed the management of this society in Moscow [1] .
The number of participants is 140. They are citizens of Moscow, among them: Princess S. S. Shcherbatova , founder of the Ladies' Guardianship of the poor; Princess N. B. Trubetskaya , the creator of the Brotherly-Loving Society for the Supply of Poor Apartments; Princess N. B. Shakhovskaya, initiator of the community of the Sisters of Charity "Soothe My Sorrows"; Moscow Metropolitan Philaret ; Foreman of the Moscow merchant class V. M. Bostanjoglo, Governor-General Prince V. A. Dolgorukov [1] .
In January 1868, the debut meeting of the society was held. At the end of the XIX century, the management of the Society for the Care of Wounded and Sick Soldiers was renamed the Moscow Society of the Red Cross [1] .
The society was engaged in humanitarian activities; built hospitals for combatants and non-combatants during military events; assisted refugees in disaster situations; participated in disease prevention; opened courses for sisters of mercy, community assistants of the health and social welfare agencies for the care of people with disabilities, the elderly and the sick [1] .
