History

Shamaatae from the age of eleven played in a musical group that later transformed into Grotesque [2] . After leaving the group, Grotesque Shamaatae formed Disinterment - a group performing technical death metal, which, before breaking up, managed to record one demo album and play several concerts [2] . At the end of 1992, Shamaatae decided to play black metal and formed Arckanum. Initially, there were other members in the group, but after six months of existence, it turned into a solo project [2] . Shamaatae worked with en: Necropolis Records until 1998, then, after the label went bankrupt, he turned to writing books about Old Norse traditions, runic magic, Satanism and Gnosticism [2] . At the same time, he continued to work on the Arkanum project and was a drummer in The Hearsemen [2] . The next full-length album Antikosmos was released in 2008. On June 1, 2009, the album ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ [2] was released . En: Set Teitan ( Dissection , Watain ) performed as a guest musician on ÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞÞ . Arckanum's eighth album, Fenris Kindir, was released on May 10, 2013.

On September 29, 2017, the ninth full-length album Den Förstfödde was released .

Lyrics

Arckanum's lyrics mainly relate to worship of Chaos , as well as "anti-cosmic" Satanism. [3] The language of the songs resembles the ancient Swedish language , according to Shamaatae, he will try to write his lyrics grammatically correctly. [4] However, in the last three albums, the language resembles Old Icelandic .
