Simonovskaya Sloboda - a historic area in the south of Moscow , which existed until 1919 .
Historical Location
Simonovskaya settlement was located in the south of Moscow, on the elevated left bank of the Moskva River . Bordered in the north with the Krutitsky Compound , a historical monument, in the southeast with Kozhukhovo , a village, incorporated into the city in 1923, in the south-west with Tyufelevaya Grove , a former natural boundary in the south of Moscow [1] .
History
The first mention of Simonovskaya settlement refers to the XVI century. Then the territory was occupied by the Simonov monastery, which is why the locality was named [1] .
From the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, extensive industrial companies built up the land in Simonovskaya Sloboda, among them: plants: Dinamo, Bari ; warehouses. Eastern Joint Stock Company had a warehouse here, so here are the streets: Vostochnaya Street, 1-3st Vostochny Proezd [1] .
In 1919, Simonovskaya settlement was renamed to Leninskaya settlement [1] .
The name of the former locality is reflected in the streets: Simonovsky Val, Simonovskaya Embankment, Simonovsky Passage and Simonovsky Deadlock [1] .
