Biography
Born in Moscow on January 28, 1950. After graduation, he entered the MIPT at the Faculty of General and Applied Physics, in the direction of the Physics of Living Systems, which he successfully graduated in 1972. Since 1976, he has been working at the Institute of Physics and Technology, Russian Academy of Sciences , in the field of studying the mechanisms of regulation of human posture , developing the concept of “body schema” as an internal representation system in the organization of motor behavior and sensorimotor interaction [1] . Head of the Laboratory of Neurobiology of Motor Control, IITP RAS , which is one of the most famous in the Russian Federation academic centers of motion physiology research founded by V.S. Gurfinkel [2] . Lecturer, Department of Physics of Living Systems, MIPT . Author of more than 100 scientific publications.

The system of internal representation in the control of movements, according to Yu. S. Levik [3] , includes not only the model of the body itself, but also information about the external environment - to denote a more general coordinate system, the orientation of the human body in space. At the same time, a variety of signal sources (information entering the brain from various types of sensors, receptors ) implies a special system of their integration into a single whole.
Only the participation of the internal representation system can explain the results of the following experiment: a person standing with his eyes closed was investigated to maintain balance while he was holding a small load ... Loads of different weights were held between the index finger and the thumb of the arm bent at the elbow. The rate of change of the sagittal stabilogram length and the standard deviation of the center of pressure from the equilibrium position decreased when the subject held the load while standing on a movable support ... At the same time, when these weights were attached to a mechanical bracket attached to the body and imitating an arm bent at the elbow, no changes in stabilogram parameters occurred. Apparently, the reduction of posture oscillations is due to the fact that the balance system can use such an unusual afferent input as modulation of afferent signals caused by the inertial interaction of the object and fingers to control the vertical posture [4] .
The works of Yu. S. Levik and his colleagues [5] continue the development of the school of N. A. Bernshtein in the second generation (through V. S. Gurfinkel ).
