Open Night - Ukrainian film festival of short films of young authors, usually unknown to the general public, authors. The festival was founded in 1997. There are no requirements for the language of the films when selecting for the festival. The founder and permanent organizer of the festival is director Ilyenko, Mikhail Gerasimovich . The permanent venue is St. Andrew's Descent from the 1st to the 14th festival inclusively, the 15th in the Mamaeva Sloboda, time is Saturday night on the last Sunday of June.

The festival positions itself as such, although it does not have an official name “national”, but so far it is the only festival of national cinema. Screening of films at the festival lasts several hours, during which approximately 25-40 short films are shown. According to the regulations, the film should not last more than 20 minutes. Applications for participation in the festival are accepted from March to May of the current year, the festival itself takes place in June. Repeat impressions may also occur later in other places and with a different time format.
After the eighth festival, there was a threat of termination due to lack of funds for the organization, but financial problems were resolved, and the next festival became unofficially referred to as the “ Double 9.5 ”, hinting that it could not take place.

The fourteenth take of the Open Night film festival took place on July 10 and 11, 2010 as part of the Dreamland ethnic festival, thanks to the help and support of Oleg Skrypka . The organizing committee of the Open Night - Double 14 Festival included:

Take 15 (2011)
Open Night Film Festival. The 15th double “took place on the night of June 25-26, 2011 in the Cossack village“ Mamaev Sloboda ” [1] . It was dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Ukrainian director, screenwriter, writer, artist, teacher and cinematographer Yuriy Ilyenko . For the first time, the Open Night festival program was shown simultaneously with Kiev in several other cities of Ukraine: Lviv ( Museum of Ideas ), Dnepropetrovsk (Art Center Apartment “), Zaporozhye (on the island of Khortytsya in the movie club” Ascension “together with the State Theater- laboratory “Vi”), Ivano-Frankivsk (cinema theater “lum Rugby”) and Chernivtsi (“Ukrainian People’s House”). The competition part of the program was broadcast on the ICTV channel during the festival night.

Take 16 (2012)
The Open Night. Double-16 film festival was held in early July 2012 in Kiev, as well as in Zhytomyr, Zaporozhye, Kanev, Kopychintsy (Ternopil Oblast), Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Nikolaev, Poltava, Priluki and Chernivtsi, as well as Obirok farm, which along with Baturin in the Chernihiv region, in the village of Legedzino, Uman district of Cherkasy region, in the village of Krivorivnya, Verkhovynsky district, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
This year’s jury includes famous Ukrainian actors Anatoly Khostikoev and Bogdan Benyuk, artist Anatoly Krivolap, literary critic Alexander Boychenko, photo artist, curator of the Art Prichal gallery Alexander Ktitorchuk, Chairman of the Board of Raiffeisen Bank Aval Volodymyr Lavrenchuk , frontman of Kozak System band accor Ivan Lene, the founder and director of the Kiev film studio of children and youth films, Alexander Konovalov, as well as the famous writer Oksana Zabuzhko, who the jury chose as their chairman.

On July 13, the awards of the festival were presented at the Art Pier.
