Story
The film is based on real events. The action takes place in London on the night of May 8 to 9, 1945, when Great Britain celebrates Victory Day . Princess Margaret and her sister Elizabeth, the future Elizabeth II , with the permission of their parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth , leave the borders of Buckingham Palace . They, accompanied by two officers, go to the city to feel unity with the people. Despite a series of adventures associated with complete ignorance of the lives of ordinary citizens on the days of mass festivities, despite being late with returning home to the palace for six hours, everything ends successfully. The king gratefully shakes hands with the savior of the princesses, who are in a self-will, demoted the pilot Jack. Princess Elizabeth takes him on a royal car for morning verification to the part where they kiss .
Real Events
Princess Elizabeth and Margaret, indeed, on the night of May 8 to 9, 1945 took part in public festivities through the streets of London. The group consisted of 16 people, including several peer friends, nannies, and armed guards under the command of Air Force Colonel Peter Townsend . However, the two escort officers and pilot Jack in the film are completely fictional. The princesses returned to the palace without delay at exactly one in the morning, as agreed [2] .
