Biography
Peter Mikhailovich Kirillov was born on June 22, 1922 in the village of Domanovo [1] . In 1939 he graduated from high school, after which he studied at the N. E. Bauman Moscow Higher Technical School . With the outbreak of World War II , he volunteered for the front as part of the Moscow people's militia, then fought in parts of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1946, Kirillov was demobilized. In 1950 he graduated from Moscow State Technical University named after N. E. Bauman, after which he was sent to work at KB-1 (later - Moscow Design Bureau Strela, Central Design Bureau Almaz) [2] .
He has gone from a senior technician to a chief designer in the system of his design bureau. He took part in the development and creation of all anti-aircraft missile systems and air defense systems of the Soviet Army. In 1958, Kirillov was awarded the Lenin Prize for the creation of the S- 75 anti-aircraft missile system, and in 1981, the USSR State Prize for the creation of the S -300P anti-aircraft missile system. For the development of anti-aircraft missile system " S-200 " was presented to the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. In 1966 he defended his doctoral dissertation [2] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 19, 1968, for "outstanding successes in the development of Soviet engineering," Pyotr Mikhailovich Kirillov was awarded the high title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Hammer and Sickle Medal [2] .
He was buried at the Khimki cemetery in Moscow [2] .
He was awarded three orders of Lenin (1956, 1968, 1976), orders of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, the Red Banner of Labor (1954), the Red Star , and a number of medals [2] .
A memorial plaque in memory of Kirillov was installed on the building of school number 2 in Vyazma, in which he studied [2] .
