Content
AppearanceBody length 56-66 cm; weight up to 900 g. The main color of the plumage is dark brown, the tips of the feathers are white. There is a white or yellow spot in the ear. On the tail and undertail is a longitudinal strip of yellow color. The bare areas around the eyes are pink. The iris is dark brown. Paws are gray-brown. The beak is dark gray. Tuft small. In the female, the ear spot is brighter, the beak is bright, the areas around the eyes are dark gray.
SpreadIt lives in Southeast and East Australia .
LifestyleThey feed mainly on seeds of various trees, insect larvae.
ReproductionA female and a male build a nest together in a hollow of a tree, lined with sawdust. The female lays 1-2 eggs . It hatches one, and the male feeds it. Usually only one chick survives, it remains in the care of parents for about 6 months.
